Gettimeofday windows

The 1 st argument points to the timeval structure.

localtime, _localtime32, _localtime64

The 2 nd argument points to the timezone structure. It should normally be set to NULL because struct timezone is obsolete. This argument is for backwards compatibility only. On success, the gettimeofday return 0, for failure the function returns If you run the program you should see the output.

Each time you run the program the output will change. In this example shows that first argument of the gettimeofday function should not be NULL.

Compilation warning will come if the first argument is NULL. In this example shows how to print Date and Time in different format. It is not a very easy to represent dates from the return value of gettimeofday function.

Format specifiers are used for formatted display. This example shows that how gettimeofday function may be used for calculation of execution time of a program. Does anyone know an equivalent function of the gettimeofday function in Windows environment? I am comparing a code execution time in Linux vs Windows. I am using MS Visual Studio and it keeps saying, identifier "gettimeofday" is undefined. For taking intervals with the best possible resolution limited by hardware onlyuse QueryPerformanceCounter. However if you want to time code, I suggest you look into QueryPerformanceCounter or by directly invoking the TSC if you're only going to run on x86 for example.

Thank you, Howard Hinnant for advice.

Very good. I have a code which was included this implementation. Exactely the same one, but I need to have this code working on Linux and I don't know how to do that.

In UNIX the use of the timezone struct is obsolete.

I don't know why you use it. Not a big deal, I know. It has only resolution of 1 sec, so if you want to cound microsecs, go on with the other examples.

I could use time function but it is not as precise as gettimeofday function and this make me a problem because I am tying to compare results I obtained on Unix with those I will obtain on Windows. This is not recommended because your application may fail after January 18,and it is not allowed on bit platforms. The fields of the structure type tm store the following values, each of which is an int :. If the TZ environment variable is set, the C run-time library assumes rules appropriate to the United States for implementing the calculation of daylight-saving time DST. The long value sourceTime represents the seconds elapsed since midnightJanuary 1,UTC. This value is usually obtained from the time function.

Both the bit and bit versions of gmtimemktimemkgmtimeand localtime all use a single tm structure per thread for the conversion. Each call to one of these routines destroys the result of the previous call. These functions validate their parameters. If sourceTime is a null pointer, or if the sourceTime value is negative, these functions invoke an invalid parameter handler, as described in Parameter Validation.

By comparison, the Birds were also six-point favorites the last time they played on the road (Week 11 at Dallas), and almost nobody outside of Cowboys fans was picking against them.

With a win, the Birds will win 10 straight in a single season for the first time in franchise history. The question is, will they. You can check that out, here. This is not the same Seahawks team you remember over the last five years. The Seahawks can no longer bulldoze defenses with Marshawn Lynch, and they're missing both Richard Sherman and Kam Chancellor on the back end defensively. I think this is the next in line of teams that gets exposed by a superior Eagles roster. Full disclosure: I do not enjoy watching the Eagles try to handle Russell Wilson.

Without Richard Sherman, I think the Seahawks are vulnerable enough for the Eagles to take down. They lost to the dang Redskins, guys.

These are the games they brought Jay Ajayi in for. Expect Doug Pederson to go to Ajayi and Blount early and often, and for Philadelphia to grind out a tough victory. I'm not going to spend a lot of time with analysis here, because the more I think about this game, the closer I come to second-guessing my prediction.

It's just one of those games. The last time I felt like this was Week 6 against the Panthers. I picked a 27-23 Eagles' win then too, and they won 28-23. Also, the Redskins won in Seattle just a few weeks ago and, I mean, did you watch that game on Thursday night. Like us on Facebook: PhillyVoice Sports Matt Mullin googletag.
